Speedboat or big boat: what's the difference?
The big boat is slow, roomy and comfortable, ideal for a day on one island, while the speedboat is small, quick and private: less time sailing, more time at each stop, and a route shaped around your group.
The other difference is privacy. On an excursion boat you share the deck with other passengers. On a private speedboat it's just you lot, and you decide whether to stay ten more minutes on the sandbank. Worth knowing: a speedboat bounces when the sea is up. Sit at the back if your back is sensitive.

White Island
White Island is a sandbank that breaks the surface off Hurghada, among the Abu Minqar islands, with sand so white it almost glows and water so clear you can see your feet metres from the edge.
No trees, no buildings, just sand and water. You land long enough for a swim and a round of photos, and it's often the picture people keep from their whole holiday. Water shoes help, and top up the sun cream: the light bounces off all that white.
Dolphins and snorkelling by speedboat
The route includes a pass through the areas where wild dolphins live and a snorkelling stop on a reef, and sightings are frequent, never guaranteed.
In a speedboat, the dolphin pass is easier to fit in: the captain can swing a few miles off course if another boat reports a pod. The approach rules don't change, though. Let them come, never chase.
