Hurghada airport transfers
Hurghada International Airport is about 13 km from the town centre and 10 km from the Marina, so 15 to 20 minutes by road. For your arrival, the easy option is a pre-booked transfer: a driver waits for you outside the terminal and takes you to your hotel in Hurghada, El Gouna, Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh or Soma Bay. The price is agreed beforehand, on WhatsApp.
How long is the transfer from Hurghada airport?
About 15 to 20 minutes to the Marina (10 km) or the centre (13 km, El Dahar and Sakkala), 30 to 45 minutes to the nearby resorts, just under an hour to Soma Bay.
It's one of the Red Sea airports closest to its town: out of the terminal, and a quarter of an hour later you can see the sea. Nice to know when you land late.

What happens when you land
If you're buying your visa on arrival (about US$30, cash), you do it at the booths before passport control; then you collect your bags, walk out of the terminal, and your driver, who has tracked your flight, is waiting at the spot and under the name we send you on WhatsApp.
Send us your flight number when you book. A delay changes nothing: the driver adjusts. Keep your phone on after landing, the airport wifi or your roaming is enough to get our last message. Already have an e-visa from visa2egypt.gov.eg? Keep the printout with your passport and go straight through.
Hurghada to El Gouna by taxi or transfer
El Gouna is about 40 km from the airport, 40 to 45 minutes by car, and the same driver takes you there; the price is on request.
Staying in El Gouna? Your hotel or rental registers you for the town's entry, nothing to do on your side. Just visiting for a day? Entry for non-residents is authorised the day before, by 2pm or 3pm, with a photo of each person's ID. Send us the photos and we'll arrange it alongside the car.
Taxi, Uber or pre-booked transfer?
Uber and Careem work in Hurghada and are handy around town; at the airport, app pick-ups are less regular, especially when a full flight lands, taxis are negotiated, and a pre-booked transfer waits for you at a price known in advance.

During your stay, the apps do the job well, often for noticeably less than a taxi hailed in the street (routri price test, 2026). For arriving and leaving, we'd always go with a booked driver. No haggling with a suitcase in your hand.
Back to the airport
Same idea in reverse: give us your return flight time and we set the hotel pick-up with a comfortable margin, aiming to be at the terminal about three hours before an international departure.
For a dawn flight, a booked transfer really earns its keep. At 4am, a car already outside the door is a lovely sight.
