Parasailing in Hurghada happens just off the beaches: clipped to a sail towed by a boat, you rise above the Red Sea for a few minutes, solo or in tandem, then come back down gently. No experience is needed. The price is given on request, as it depends on the beach and the length of the flight.
How the flight works
Harness, life jacket, a quick briefing, then take-off from the back deck of the boat, with no run-up and no jump: the boat speeds up, the sail lifts you, and seconds later you're in the air, landing back on the same deck.
Up there you can barely hear the engine. The view takes in the coast, the islands and the mountains behind the town, and the blue changes shade with the depth. It's far calmer than it looks from the beach.
What you see from up there: reefs and every colour of the sea
From above, the Red Sea looks like a living map: deep blue out at sea, turquoise lagoons, and the dark patches of coral reefs drawing islands under the surface.
At take-off you watch the boat. Thirty seconds later you only watch the water. The reefs show up like dark clouds on a turquoise floor, the excursion boats turn into toys, and the Hurghada coastline stretches out with its hotels and minarets. Best tip? Keep your phone in a waterproof pouch strapped to your wrist and film straight down. That's where the colours go wild.
Solo or tandem
Both: in tandem you share the sail side by side, and the operator sets weight limits per flight, which we check with you before booking.
Photos in the air? A phone in a waterproof pouch on a lanyard, or nothing. Whatever falls from a parasail stays in the sea.
Who it suits
Anyone who wants the view without the effort; no particular fitness is needed, and the minimum age and weight are set by the operator.
Best time of year and time of day
All year round, in moderate wind: mornings often bring a flatter sea and softer light, late afternoon puts you face to face with the sun sinking over the mountains.
For the colours, pick a day with no wind: a smooth surface lets you see the reefs right down to the bottom.
