The Hurghada horse ride lasts two hours at sunset: one hour in the desert, with the mountains turning pink, then one hour along the shore, hooves in the foam. How the ride goes

Hotel pick-up in the late afternoon.
At the stables, horses matched to each rider's experience.

The team pairs horses with riders. Tell them if you've never been in a saddle, or if you'd like a livelier horse. Complete beginners can be led on a lead rein.

Desert first, then the beach

The route starts in the desert, on sand and pebbles with the mountains behind, then reaches the sea, where the horses walk along the line where the waves land.

The switch from desert to sea takes a few minutes and changes everything: ochre gives way to blue, silence to the sound of the surf. On paper it's the calmest outing of the week. In practice it's the one that gives the best pictures.

Is it OK for beginners?

Yes, no experience is needed: the ride goes at a walk, in a group, with a guide, and confident riders can say so, as a short trot is sometimes possible depending on the group.

First tip for beginners: let your horse follow the one in front, it knows the way better than you do. Second tip: heels down, back straight, breathe. The rest comes by itself.

The ride is timed so the beach part falls at sunset: around 6.30pm in early October, around 5pm in December, later in summer.
