Hurghada in November: weather, sea, things to do, packing

In short. In November, Hurghada keeps summer on standby: 29°C in the afternoon at the start of the month, 25°C by the end, a sea that slips from 26 to 25°C and around 9 hours of sunshine a day, according to Weather Spark and Climates to Travel. You swim without a wetsuit, you head out to the islands, and the desert turns pleasant at any hour. Practical side: a hoodie for the evenings, especially late in the month, and Hurghada runs 2 hours ahead of the UK for the whole of November.

Back home, November is the month the heating goes back on and Bonfire Night gets rained off. In Hurghada, at the same moment, you're eating lunch in a T-shirt on the deck of a boat in the middle of the Red Sea. That's the whole appeal of the month.

What's the weather like in Hurghada in November?

Mild, dry and bright. Going by Weather Spark's historical averages, highs drop from 29°C on 1 November to 25°C on the 30th, and lows from 20°C to 16°C. About 1 mm of rain falls over the entire month. The sky is clear 83% of the time early on, 75% by the end.

Sunshine runs to about 9 hours a day, some 265 hours across the month (Climates to Travel). The wind blows mainly from the north, at 18 km/h on average.

And the sea? It starts the month at 26°C and ends it at 25°C. Warm enough to spend an hour on the reef without a second thought.

Early or late November: what changes

The light, first. The sun rises around 5.55am on 1 November and sets around 5pm, then around 6.15am and 4.50pm on the 30th, again according to Weather Spark (local time). The day shrinks by about half an hour, from 11 hours 7 minutes to 10 hours 34.

Then the evenings. At 20°C in early November, dinner outside means a light shirt. At 16°C late in the month, with the north breeze along the quays, a thin jumper earns its place in the bag.

The afternoons, though, stay perfect for the desert from the first day to the last.

November 2026: calendar and crowds

On the Egyptian side, no national public holiday falls in November 2026. The Office Holidays calendar lists none between Armed Forces Day on 9 October and Coptic Christmas on 7 January.

On the UK side, November sits neatly between two school breaks. The October half-term in England mostly runs from 26 to 30 October 2026, and Christmas holidays often start on 21 December, as in Rochdale (Rochdale Borough Council). Dates vary by council, so check your school's calendar. For couples, friends and anyone free of the school run, that's a wide window to travel.

Hurghada, meanwhile, welcomes visitors all year round. In the first eight months of 2026, its airport received some 3,000,000 tourists, with Germans in the lead (about 825,800), ahead of Russians, Poles and Brits, according to the Hurghada travel agents' association quoted by Egypt Independent on 12 September 2026. So you'll hear plenty of German on the boats, which is a good sign: the town knows how to look after its guests.

At sea: islands, dolphins, snorkelling

Water at 25 to 26°C is snorkelling comfort at its peak. November suits every trip out to sea.

Orange Bay, on Giftun Island, is still the best-known day out: fine sand, very clear water and a reef you reach straight from the beach. Paradise Island plays the beach card, with shallow water that warms up fast in the sun. And the speedboat races out to White Island, the white sandbar that rises out of the sea offshore.

The dolphin trip sets out to meet the wild dolphins of the area. Sightings are frequent, never guaranteed: these are free animals.

A tip that's specific to November. On deck in the late afternoon, the north wind cools wet skin quickly. Pack a hoodie and a towel in your bag, plus a UV rash vest for the water. For sun cream, go mineral: the US agency NOAA notes that some chemical filters, such as oxybenzone, can harm corals.

In the desert: quads, a Bedouin village, horses

November is when the desert finally stops being a numbers game. In high summer you wait for the end of the day. Now, even 3pm feels fine.

The quad or buggy safari follows the tracks in convoy behind the guide, all the way to a Bedouin village and dinner under the stars. With sunset around 5pm, departure moves to early afternoon. Bring closed shoes, a scarf and sunglasses against the dust, plus a jacket for the ride back after dark.

The horse ride between desert and shoreline gets the same golden light, just a little earlier than in October.

Luxor and El Gouna: the right month for days on land

Luxor is the trip November shows off best. The city is about 290 km from Hurghada airport, and a day among temples and tombs is far more enjoyable once the thermometer drops: in November, Luxor sees highs of around 29°C and lows of 13°C, with no rain (Climates to Travel). Evenings: the Marina and dinner outdoors

What to pack for Hurghada in November

  • Two or three swimsuits, a UV rash vest and water shoes for the reefs
  • High-factor mineral sun cream, a cap, sunglasses
  • Closed shoes and a scarf or shemagh for the quads
  • Light clothes that cover shoulders and knees for town and the souk
  • A hoodie or thin jumper, plus a light jacket for the desert at night and late-month evenings
  • A waterproof phone pouch, a power bank
  • About US$30 in cash for the visa on arrival, or the e-visa from visa2egypt.gov.eg, printed
  • Your passport, with at least six months left after the date you arrive and one blank page (GOV.UK)

One thing to buy before you go: a plug adapter. Egypt uses type C and F sockets at 220V (Wise), so UK three-pin plugs won't fit. Most phones and laptops are dual voltage, so the adapter alone does the job.

The time difference in November

Hurghada is 2 hours ahead of the UK from 1 to 30 November. Egypt went back to winter time at the end of 29 October 2026 (Cairo Scene), four days after the UK's clocks went back on the 25th. For the whole of November, the gap holds steady.
